Then and Now
Then & Now Exhibition Sat Sept 11th (4.00pm) - Sun Sept 26th

Early Windsor chair, mid / late 18th century
We are celebrating!!…10 years of trading from our current site and 20 years of making furniture. ‘Then and Now’ will take you through the journey that has taken me from being a specialist supplier of antique English country chairs to the antiques trade to new furniture designer / producer, serving the end client…YOU??
Exhibition opens at 4.00pm Sat Sept 11th
I founded The Real Wood Furniture Company in 1990 after many years working in the antiques trade. It was during this period of handling literally thousands of antique chairs and being immersed in a world of antique furniture that I built up a sense of form, proportion, style, finish etc which unbeknownst to me was preparing me for the future…

Rare Thames Valley Comb Back Windsor Chair in walnut, elm and fruitwood, late 18th century - for sale
Starting in 1990 with a period of producing new chairs and then furniture as well for ‘trade’, we moved into the retail arena, first exhibiting at ‘Home’ and ‘Lifestyle’ shows, before establishing in 1996, retail premises in Woodstock, literally a few hundred yards from our current location where we opened in the year 2000.
Our exhibition will take you through this journey, with some interesting photos and observations. On display will be many fine antique chairs of the type I used to trade, including some very rare pieces from my private collection and an assortment of miniature chairs. We will be displaying the ‘old’ next to the ‘new’, showing how we have adapted the aesthetics of early (late 18th / early 19th century) forms in the making of our own collection of chairs that are suited to the frame and body shape of 21st century men and women and their requirements of supreme comfort and practicality. We will of course also be displaying the very latest additions to our ever expanding furniture range, including the ‘Flame Bookcase’.

We hope you will be able to join us!
